Recycle
Computer Ink Cartridges and Cell Phones
SSGHS is now
accepting your empty computer inkjet and
virgin
laser/toner
cartridges,
and cell phones.
The cartridges will either be sold or exchanged for copier paper for the
library. The result will be additional income for the Society and a
reduction of waste going into the landfill.
The cell phones
that we cannot sell will be sent to the Good
Deed Foundation which uses their profits to lift women and
their families out of poverty. About 60% of cell phones recycled are in
good working order and can be refurbished and resold. These cell phones
generate the greatest amount of revenue to help dismantle poverty and resolve
climate change.
A portion of the phones recycled are programmed to dial only 911 for use in emergencies and donated to domestic violence survivors, elders and low-income people at risk. The rest are recycled according to the EPA standards and returned to the materials stream
Fiscal year
2007-2008 ending March 31, we earned $399.70. So you can see that if we all do our part this becomes a
worthwhile endeavor.
Most brands except Epson,
but not all models of inkjet and virgin laser/toner cartridges and phones are acceptable .
Replacement/compatible (non-virgin) laser/toner cartridges are not acceptable.
You may email Bob Roach Roachrpr@sbcglobal.net
to find out if your model cartridges are acceptable.
Please ask you friends to donate their cartridges and cell phones. Ask
your employer if you may have the old equipment. Ask places where you
do business to help. We are requesting that you mail or deliver
these cartridges and phones to our Library in Hazel Crest .
This is a simple
but important way for you to help raise money for SSGHS even if you live far
away. Linda from Florida was very pleased to have this opportunity
to help out. She has mail many cartridges. Pamela from Indiana sent
thirteen.
